Many might consider juicing to be trendy but I love it for the convenience, delicious taste and all the health benefits it brings with it. Not all juices are created equal though, depending on the kind of juicer you use and the way the fruit and vegetables are juiced.

Korean juicers are one way of ensuring you’re maintaining your healthy lifestyle of consuming your five serves a day along with the detox your body needs.

Why should I consider a cold press juicer?

You might already know this, but in case you don’t, cold-pressed juice is the way to go if you want to consume all the nutrients intact in your fruit and veggies.

A lot of companies are commercially producing these cold-pressed juices and bottling them for sale, but these are quite expensive in the long run. It’s also beneficial to have your own cold press juicer as you can alter the proportions or the ingredients themselves, customising the juices the way you like them, and have them fresh every day.

Why you should choose a cold press juicer over a regular juicer: A centrifugal juicer crushes the fruit similar to the way a blender works and then strains the juice.

This is done very quickly depending on the speed and power of the motor. This process ends up aerating the juice as well as heating it up slightly. The heat created during the process kills some of the nutrients present in the ingredients you put in.

Cold Press juicers, on the other hand, work by slowly crushing the fruit and veggies, not allowing them to aerate or heat up. The juice that is extracted is almost close to what is present in the fruit in terms of the nutritional content.

It’s not just the nutritional content that is altered, but also the taste of the juice and the colour. I have noticed that the juice that is extracted through a cold press or slow masticating juicer retains its original fresh colour even for a few hours after it has been extracted.

It also tastes so much better, full of freshness and rich flavour when compared to the other one.

The benefits don’t end there. If you love your morning brekky with a side of freshly squeezed orange juice, you should purchase a Korean juicer right away! This juicer presses the fruit so slowly that you get none of the unpleasant bitterness from the seeds or the pith that is quite prevalent in a centrifugal juicer.

Evaluating Korean juicer performance

If you are a serious juicer, looking to juice almost every day, you must consider these factors before you invest in a Korean cold press juicer. Cold press juicers are quite expensive when compared to centrifugal ones, so make sure you read this list carefully along with the reviews below of the best Korean juicers available in the market today.

Choose a juicer based on the following criteria:

  • Durability
  • Ease of Use
  • Ease of cleaning
  • Preparation time taken
  • Whether you like more juice or more pulp

One of the most important parts of a Korean juicer is the Auger. The auger does the job of crushing the fruit or vegetables you put in, grinding them to slowly extract the juice.

For this, as you can expect, the auger has to be made of very good quality material. It has to be strong as the life of the juice is only until the life of the auger. Make sure you check the quality of the auger before purchasing your juicer.

If the process of making the juice, the preparation needed and the clean up later is easy, the chances of you making and consuming the juice more often is higher.

Some juicers require you to chop up the produce into small chunks, taking up your precious time and energy, whereas some have a mouth that is quite wide, through which you can easily fit in a whole apple or pear without a problem.

Read the reviews of all the juicers and ensure that you don’t spend a lot of time and energy just for the prep and clean up.

Different juicers work differently. Some produce more pulp and some produce more juice. Depending on your preference choose a Korean juicer so that you enjoy your healthy drink every day.

Why Korean juicer?

Korean juicers are rated as some of the best juicers in the world and rightly so. There’s been a lot of research that has been put into developing the best cold press juicers, so it’s certainly worth investing in a Korean juicer.

The other country which now has a whole lot of slow masticating juicers in the market is China. There is a huge difference in price between the ones manufactured in Korea and those manufactured in China, the latter being a lot cheaper, of course.

However, there are a lot of reviews from users stating that the ones produced in China are unreliable with poor quality parts used. The most important part of a cold press juicer is the auger.

This is literally the life of the juicer. I’ve noticed that the Korean cold press juicers have augers that are made of strong, durable material which seem like they will do a superb job of crushing the fruit and vegetables.

They also look like they will last a long time. However, the ones that are made in China seem to be more flimsy. I sometimes get the feeling (or imagine) tiny fragments of these augers melting into or chipping off into my juice!

Chinese cold press juicers come with a warranty of about 1 or 2 years but the ones that are made in Korea come with a longer warranty period.

So, even though a Korean cold press juicer might cost you a bomb and you can buy a Chinese cold press juicer for a fraction of that price, I highly recommend you choose the Korean one. It’s an investment in your health and wellbeing, at the end of the day.

Top Korean Juicer

Tribest Greenstar Cold Press Complete Masticating Slow Juicer

Tribest is one of the most popular Korean juicer brands, with lots of different models. One of the highly rates Tribest juicers is the Tribest Greenstar Cold Press Complete Masticating Slow Juicer.

This juicer is equipped with sturdy stainless steel bio-ceramic magnetic twin gears to do all the crushing. Steel rotors are very strong and durable but are prone to cause heat from friction.

This is avoided in this juicer by employing bio-ceramic and magnetic technology where the steel gears rotate at only 110 rpm which is low enough to not produce heat but extracts the juice efficiently from the produce.

You are therefore assured of getting the best quality, fresh and nutrient rich juice from this juicer.

One big issue we usually face is with extracting juice from fibrous vegetables like carrots and celery. The design of the gears is such that it has cutting points placed strategically so that hard vegetables can be crushed without the fibres getting stuck.

The other interesting aspect of this juicer is the “Reverse function”. It prevents produce from getting jammed during the juicing process.

This juicer also comes with a homogenising tool which turns this into a multi-purpose kitchen appliance. You can use the tool to extract delicious nut butters without subjecting them to the heat of a blender, or even make some tasty fruit sorbets!

The Tribest Greenstar is a slightly bulky appliance and requires its own space in the kitchen. As expected, for the quality of the product, the price is high but justified.

Tribest SW-2000 Slowstar

From the house of Tribest we have another spectacular juicer, the SW-2000 Slowstar. This is cheaper than the Tribest Greenstar. It is designed to be vertical, is smaller than the former and occupies lesser space, making this ideal for today’s modern compact kitchens.

It uses a duo-blade auger that is double edged to crush the fruit and vegetables well. Thanks to this, it extracts more juice from the pulp, giving you beautiful, clear juice. It is free of harmful BPA, made with food safe, sturdy and durable material.

This appliance includes an attachment that can be used for mincing all kinds of vegetables required for various meal preps. It can also crush nuts to extract nut butters.

Hurom juicer

The Slowstar operates with a 200 watt motor and the auger rotates at a speed of 47 rpm. This juicer is very efficient for most fruit and vegetables but I find that it requires a little more effort when it comes to harder vegetables like carrots.

You do have to chop up the veggies and fruit into small chunks before you feed them into the juicer. I do like the design and the thoughtful addition of a juice cap to prevent the juice from automatically flowing out. It makes clean up easy and there is hardly any mess on my kitchen countertop.

The metal filter takes a bit of time to clean but it’s really not too hard with the brush that is given with the appliance. I also have to mention that this is one of the quieter juicers available in the market, so your early morning juicing sessions don’t wake up the entire neighborhood!

Overall, if you want something that is easy on the pocket, this is a good choice.

Omega NC800HDS Juicer Extractor

Another best selling Korean juicer is the Omega NC800HDS Juicer Extractor. This is also in the much cheaper than the Tribest juicers, making this a great option for those who don’t want to break the bank for a cold press juicer. It is also pretty quiet, so there is no risk of your neighbours complaining about the noise every morning.

This juicer works on a 150 watt motor, so it isn’t as powerful as the Tribest juicer. However, it does manage to produce fresh and tasty juices that retain all the enzymes and vitamins in the fruit as it runs at a speed of 80 rpm.

Like most cold press juicers this has a small mouth, so chopping up of the produce is needed before it is fed into the juicer. One piece of advice I would like to give you is to always mix dry produce with some wet produce as it eases the load on the juicer’s motor.

I find that the cleaning process of the Omega NC800HDS Juicer is quite easy. The juicer can be taken apart and quickly cleaned under running water and some soap.

The biggest disadvantage of this machine is the way the collecting bin is designed. It is small and gets filled up very quickly especially if you are juicing large quantities at a time. It requires to be emptied at regular intervals.

Hurom HU-100 Masticating Slow Juicer

The Hurom HU-100 Masticating Slow Juicer functions with a 150 watt motor using a patented technology called SST or Slow Squeezing Technology.

The produce is crushed and ground slowly, extracting the juice and retaining the vitamins and healthy enzymes as they are not subjected to friction or heat. The motor comes with a 10 year warranty, which is quite the norm with most best Korean juicer brands.

This juicer requires you to prep your produce by chopping them up into small pieces. It does crush even hard vegetables, nuts, spices, seeds and fruit without a problem.

The one issue I find is that it does not juice leafy veggies very well but this can be solved by grinding them with wet produce.

The size of the juicer is compact, it weighs only around 10 kgs and is perfect for those who have very small kitchens or bachelor pads. The entire juicer is free of harmful BPA, made out of durable, high quality food safe material. It’s not too noisy or loud.

This juicer is fairly easy to take apart and clean, which is of highest priority when it comes to choosing a juicer.

The Hurom HU-100 comes in two colours – white and black. The white comes at quite a reasonable price, similar to the Omega NC800HDS juicer, whereas the black is more expensive.

Which is the best Korean juicer?
