How did we test the best Korean mascaras?

There is only one way to do it. The Korean Beauty Products team wore it all day, cried their eyes out laughing to check if it’s waterproof, smudge-proof and clump-free. At first glance, we obviously checked if it was lengthening and volumizing. Those that aren’t didn’t make it to the list.

Besides, Korean mascaras are made with Korean women in mind. They have short and straight lashes. A product made for them is to specifically combat that. Hence expecting volumizing curls are a given.

This is in stark contrast with women from Westen countries, where long lashes are natural and hence their products don’t focus as much on that. It’s best to keep a curler handy though!

How to choose the best Korean mascara

When it comes to choosing the perfect mascara, there are a few phrases that will come to mind. Volume, length, lift, and curl. And that’s just the basics. But when it comes to finding the best Korean mascara, the stakes get even higher.

Korean mascaras, often dubbed K-Beauty, are known for providing users with a dose of drama, length, and all-around glamour. When it comes to finding the best item for your particular preference, there are some important criteria to consider.

First, a good rule of thumb when choosing a Korean mascara is to look for ingredients such as bamboo, lotus flower and green tea extracts.

These ingredients, often referred to as botanicals, nourish and moisturize the lashes. Also, when it comes to the formula, consider mascaras with a light and airy consistency, which should give you extra length and curl without clumping.

In addition, look out for mascaras that boast a creamy, water-resistant formula, which will give you an extra layer of protection against smudging and flaking.

When eyeing up mascaras, always check the brush to make sure it offers the degree of definition you’re looking for.

Mascaras with thin, tapered brushes are ideal for giving your lashes more length and definition, while mascaras with thicker brushes tend to work best for giving your look more drama and volume.

And always make sure to inspect the wand’s bristles; these should be flexible enough to grab each lash and grip them firmly at the root.

It’s also important to pay attention to color. Korean mascaras are known for their bold and intense shades, so choose a hue that suits your individual tastes and preferences.

From jet black to dark espresso brown, there is no limit to the array of possibilities that Korean mascaras have to offer.

Finally, before purchasing any new mascara, it’s important to read reviews to ensure that you’re getting a quality product.

Even if the brush shape, size, and ingredients all sound perfect, a few reviews from other customers will give you a better idea of how the product performs.

To sum it up, selecting the best Korean mascara will require you to take a few different factors into account.

When comparing products, look for natural and nourishing ingredients, an airy and light consistency, a brush with flexible bristles, an intense color selection, and read a few reviews for added assurance.

Although the search for a fantastic mascara may seem daunting, the results will be worth the effort.

    Types of Korean Mascaras

    Types of Korean Mascaras

The types of mascara are distinguished based on their function. Whether it is defining, or lengthening or volumizing. The wearer must carefully notice what kind of lashes they have and the kind of effect they desire on their lashes before they spend on mascara. Read about the types of Korean mascaras before choosing the best Korean mascara for yourself:

    • Lengthening:

Users with short and sparse lashes will usually look for something like this. Lengthening mascaras generally have denser bristles that allow them to hold the formula and thickly coat the lashes.

    • Volumizing:

This is what most people want out of mascaras — to make the eyelashes look voluminous naturally. Volumizing mascaras are usually heavily pigmented to create a darker look. In addition to that, the volume is also added by waxy ingredients.

When you use a volumizing mascara for a second coat, make sure to touch the lash line to add density there as well and draw the brush outwards in a zigzag motion to avoid clumping.

    • Curling:

This kind of mascara has a wand that is designed to lift the lashes in a natural sweep. The formulas have a binding agent that helps them hold it that way. Bad mascaras can cause the area to dry out.

    • Waterproof:

Using waterproof mascaras is a risky business. They are intensely drying and can cause breakage to your lashes if you don’t keep them moisturized. When you take the mascara off before bed, make sure to apply vaseline or sensitive, eye-friendly cream to prevent losing eyelashes.

But removing the mascaras itself can be a challenge. And you must do it carefully. Take some gentle but strong make-up remover onto a cotton pad and place it on your closed eyes for about 40 seconds. Allow the mascara to break down. Slowly swipe it all away and wash your face after it’s all gone.

How to Apply a Korean Mascara Properly

Before you choose the best Korean mascara, it’s important to learn how to apply it properly for the perfect lashes!

Learning to apply mascara properly is not just about getting the most dramatic-looking eyes, but also about putting your safety first. You won’t believe how many people have been injured by mascara wands alone. Eyes are sensitive and learning how to apply mascara is important.

If the space between your lower and upper eyelid is low, always use a lash curler. Don’t go too close to the lash line if you have sensitive eyes.

When you start the application at the base of your lashes, pull it outwards in a zigzag motion and repeat the process depending on the kind of look you want. The outward end of the brush is meant to be used for your corner lashes.

What To Avoid While Using Korean Mascara

Best you go ahead and apply the best Korean mascara you’ve chosen for yourself, here are some ‘don’ts’ you need to know about applying Korean mascaras.

    • Sharing isn’t always caring:

Our eyes are prone to infections and to share something that close to your eyes can be incredibly dangerous. Next time we see a girl at a club asking for your mascara, break the girl code and say no.

    • Don’t sleep with it:

I can’t say it enough, but our eyes are sensitive. Sleeping with a chemically made mascara means leaving our eyes exposed to that much danger over many hours. Besides, they can also make your lashes brittle.

    • Don’t hoard

I will sound extremely hypocritical as I say this but don’t hoard mascaras. They dry out very quickly. If you are a hoarder, buy them and don’t open them unless you absolutely have to, because their lifespan is only about 4-5 months. There could be exceptions.

Korean Mascara Vs American Mascara: What’s The Difference?

Korean Mascaras vs. Western Mascaras: 5 Key Differences

    • Korean Mascaras: Korean mascaras often focus on lightweight, buildable formulas that emphasize natural-looking lashes. They may contain nourishing ingredients like botanical extracts, hyaluronic acid, and keratin to promote lash health.
    • Western Mascaras: Western mascaras typically offer a range of formulas catering to different lash needs, such as lengthening, volumizing, or waterproof. They may contain synthetic polymers and fibers to create dramatic effects and achieve specific lash looks.
    • Consumer Preferences:
    1. Formula and Ingredients:
    • Korean Mascaras: Korean consumers tend to prefer subtle and natural makeup looks, including feathery, separated lashes that enhance the eyes without clumping or heaviness.
    • Western Mascaras: Western consumers often seek bolder and more dramatic lash effects, with voluminous and intense lashes being popular choices for statement-making eye makeup.
    1. Application Techniques:
    • Korean Mascaras: Korean mascaras are often designed for precise application, with thinner wands that allow for more controlled coating of the lashes. This is to achieve a more natural, fluttery lash appearance.
    • Western Mascaras: Western mascaras may have a variety of brush designs, including thick and densely packed wands that help create voluminous and dramatic lash looks.
    1. Product Performance:
    • Korean Mascaras: Korean mascaras may focus on smudge-proof, long-wearing formulas suitable for all-day wear. They typically prioritize minimal flaking and easy removal.
    • Western Mascaras: Western mascaras often offer extended wear, some being smudge-proof or waterproof, which appeals to consumers seeking longevity and performance under various conditions.
    1. Price:
    • Korean Mascaras: Korean mascaras may be more competitively priced, with affordable options that appeal to a wide range of consumers.
    • Western Mascaras: Western mascaras can vary significantly in price, with options spanning from drugstore to high-end luxury brands, accommodating different budget preferences.

It’s important to note that these differences are general observations and that both Korean and Western beauty industries are continually evolving, with cross-cultural influences shaping the trends and innovations in mascara formulations and preferences. Individual preferences for mascara may vary based on personal needs, lash type, and desired makeup look.

Etude House Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara

Best Korean mascara for natural look

If you’re looking for subtle everyday look mascara, look somewhere else. The Lash Perm Curl screams attention! More than the formulation, I have to hand it to the brush on the wand. It has an outward curl, with shorter bristles in the corner and longer ones in the centre.

    best etude mascara

The application becomes so simple, especially with the lashes on the corner without getting it on your eyelid. Who likes to redo eye makeup because of one extended bristle!

It used to take me forever to get ready because my mascara would clump a lot. Since I found this mascara, it has become just that much easier. The cab drivers in my city can vouch for this. Oh, the countless times I did this looking in the rearview mirrors of the cabs when I was late to work.

    best korean mascaras

It’s not just the ease of application. It’s about how long it lasts. I have gone an entire day without refixing my mascara. The best part — it says curled and lifted without feeling heavy. I did struggle with removing the mascara a bit.

But I guess it’s worth it considering how waterproof, tear-proof and smudge-proof it is. Perfect for overwhelming days and days you want to overwhelm someone.

This had to be the first on the list for best Korean mascaras because I can unhesitatingly call it the holy grail of eye makeup.

ETUDE HOUSE Oh M’Eye Lash Black Tint Mascara

Best Korean mascara for lengthening lashes

The next one on our list of best Korean mascara is by Etude House again!

Clearly, I liked the previous Etude House product so much that I had to buy another one. I didn’t see the point in buying one that has the same effect so I looked for something different. This mascara is both a tint and a mascara, leaning more towards acting like a lash tint.

    korean mascara amazon

I wore this everyday till the bottle ran out. While it lengthens your lashes and adds density to them, it doesn’t specifically curl or lift them, it is just meant to make your lashes show a bit. You’ll have to use a lash curler before if you want a lifted look. I did have to apply two coats though.

    best korean mascara

The applicator wand is pretty basic. The bristles have a smart placement enough to avoid a spidery look along your lash line. I hate it when that happens.

I actually loved the fact that it was not very pigmented. I got the definition on my eyes without having to worry about getting raccoon eyes in the middle of the day. Been there, done that. I personally prefer a subtle, no-makeup look on an everyday basis so curling would seem a bit much. Nonetheless, it remains smudge-proof till you decide to wash it off.

    Innisfree Skinny Microcara Eye Mascara

    Best Korean waterproof mascara

The next one one our list of best Korean mascara is by Innisfree.

I still remember the moment I discovered the power of this mascara’s water-resistant capability. Some of my friends and I were casually hanging out and decided to take a spontaneous dip in the pool. When I came back, I’m not sure what else remained, but my lashes sure did look fabulous. Let’s just say I was pleasantly surprised.

best korean mascara for short lashes

Technically, the formulation isn’t thick enough to give you dramatic eyes, but the wand is so skinny, 2.5mm skinny, that it can reach the base of your lash line and allow you to drag it outwards easily, reaching every single lash attached to your eyelid. That’s bound to give you volume and definition.

best korean mascara for asian lashes

My lower lashes felt blessed when I finally gave them the attention they needed. I could so easily, with multiple coats, of course, make them look fuller.

If you’re throwing a pool party and have a photographer around, remember to pass this around touch up with the Innisfree Skinny Microcara Eye Mascara! You can’t have sleepy eyes in all the pictures. I won’t allow it! You’re welcome.

How To Choose The Right Korean Makeup Products For Your Skin Type

Korean makeup products have taken the beauty world by storm, and for good reason. With their advanced formulas and innovative ingredients, Korean makeup products can help you achieve a flawless complexion without compromising your skin’s health.

However, with so many Korean makeup products on the market, it can be tough to choose the right ones for your skin type. To start, consider your skin type.

If you have dry skin, look for products that are hydrating and nourishing, such as the Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream. If you have oily or acne-prone skin, opt for products that help control oil and balance your skin’s pH levels, such as the Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid.

Next, consider your skin tone. Korean makeup products often cater to a wide range of skin tones, so it’s essential to pick shades that complement your complexion. The Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream is an excellent choice for those with lighter skin tones, while the Etude House Double Lasting Foundation is perfect for those with darker skin tones.

Finally, don’t forget to read labels and ingredients carefully. If you have sensitive skin, look for products that are free of harsh chemicals and fragrances, such as the Pyunkang Yul Low pH Pore Deep Cleansing Foam.

Also, consider trying out new products in small amounts before applying them to your entire face. With these tips in mind, you’ll be on your way to finding the best Korean makeup products for your skin type and achieving a natural, radiant glow.

Best Korean Toners For Oily Skin 2025

    Skin Food Peach Sake Toner

Best Korean Toner For Tightening the Pores

    SKINFOOD-Peach-Sake-Facial-Toner-1

The first on this list of top Korean toners for oily skin is the Peach Sake toner by Skin Food. A lot of people with oily skin make the mistake of being too harsh on their skin, using products that overly dry the skin, with the intention of reducing the shine and oiliness on their face.

While we understand this frustration, that’s not the best way to go about it.

Oily skin also needs a certain amount of hydration to keep it healthy and Skin Food’s Peach Sake Toner is just the product for the job. This is one is a really good Korean toner for oily skin.

The Peach Sake Toner by Skin Food is one of my favourites and you will probably find it on every list that I put together. This is because the toner is mild, yet leaves the skin feeling soft and healthy. With real peach extracts blended with Japanese Sake, this toner is pure goodness in a bottle.

I recommend this Skinfood Peach Sake toner for with normal to oily skin with a tendency of breakouts. This toner felt really light and easy on my skin. And the fragrance of peaches – oh my god – just love it! After using this toner consistently for a few weeks, I noticed my pores had minimized, the redness on my skin was also reduced by A LOT.

The toner cleans out your pores really well. So sometimes if I feel too lazy to use face wash and don’t have too much makeup on then I skip the face wash and just use this toner before applying my serum and mosturiser. And inspite of that my skin didn’t breakout!

So Skinfood Peach Sake Toner is a good option if your skin is oily with risk of break out!

    Key Features:

    • Japanese wine Sake is a traditional secret that is used to tighten large pores and reduce the production of sebum
    • The Peach extracts keep your skin well-nourished with plenty of Vitamin A and C
    • Moisturises your skin while reducing the shine from excess oil

    Pros:

    • With this toner you get not only a pore tightening effect but also radiant skin, thanks to the peach extracts

Best Korean Toner For Skin Healing and Repair

Snail mucin is a highly effective ingredient in skin care for healing and repair. Benton’s Snail Bee High Content Skin Toner uses snail mucin in combination with Bee venom to bring you a product that protects your skin from damage while hastening the regeneration of cells.

What I loved about this toner is how easily it just absorbed into my skin. And instantly my skin felt hydrated. I’ve always had oily skin prone to acne because of which as a teenager I dealt with stubborn acne that left scars. This toner has managed to reduce those scars as well! (Ofcourse, only with consistent and prolonged use).

It’s best to use this toner after using a face wash. I just had to use 2 – 3 pumps of this toner and pat it into my skin directly using my fingers. I don’t use cotton pads because I’ve always felt that I lose a lot of the product to the cotton.

How to Choose the Best Korean Toner for Oily Skin?

When choosing the top Korean toners for oily skin there are three things you need to keep in mind – ingredients, form and reviews.

    • Ingredients: Avoid toners formulated with potential aggressors that might cause allergic reactions, irritation, inflammation, or redness leading to a breakout. There may also be some harsh ingredients that might have moisturizing properties but also have bad side effects. Avoid toners with higher exfoliating acids. Opt for toners that have a small percentage for exfoliating acids that are safe to use daily. It’s recommended to opt for toners that are formulated with organic, pure, and safe botanical ingredients like flower or plant extracts, hyaluronic acids.
    • Form: Most Korean toners are water-based as it’s very gentle on the skin. However, you’ll also find toners that are in gel form as well. You’ll also find ‘boosters’ by Korean brands that are to be applied before the toner to prep your skin. Other than that, you’ll also find small round pads soaked with toner and packaged in handy containers. This is great for those who are always on-the-go or travel often.
    • Reviews: Make sure you use the right Korean toner for your skin type, especially if you have oily skin or sensitive skin that’s prone to breakouts. Read reviews before you buy into anything. Korean skincare products are usually formulated to suit a particular skin type or target a particular skin concern.
    • Astringents: Astringents like witch hazel helps in controlling excess oil production and are great to have in oil skin toners. Avoid astringents if you have sensitive skin as it might not suit everyone. Also keep in mind if the toner has other hydrating agents as astringents are also known for drying out skin.
    • Hydration: You might think that you don’t need a hydrating toner as your skin is already oily but you’re wrong. Having hydrating ingredients in your toner ensures that the moisture level is balanced in your skin. Choosing a toner formulated with rosehip oils, hemp seed oils, argan oil, snail mucin, aloe extracts etc. that’s lightweight and also hydrates the skin.
    • Harsh chemicals: don’t ever opt for a toner formula that consists of harsh chemicals like parabens, fragrances, phthalates etc. that can harm your skin, cause inflammation or mess with hormonal functions. Some of these harsh chemicals are also skin drying.

How To Use A Korean Toner For Oily Skin

Using a Korean toner for oily skin can help balance oil production, minimize pore size, and prepare the skin for subsequent skincare steps. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use a Korean toner for oily skin:

    1. Start with a clean face: Wash your face using a gentle cleanser to remove any dirt, oil, or makeup residue. Pat dry with a clean towel.
    2. Choose the right toner: Look for a Korean toner specifically formulated for oily skin types. These toners typically contain ingredients that help control excess oil production, soothe the skin, and refine pores.
    3. Dispense the toner: Pour an adequate amount of toner onto a cotton pad or into the palm of your hand. You can start with a small amount and add more if needed.
    4. Apply the toner: Gently pat the toner onto your face using your fingertips or a cotton pad. Start from the center of your face and work your way outwards. Pay extra attention to areas where your skin tends to be more oily, such as the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin).
    5. Use a tapping motion: Instead of rubbing or wiping the toner, use a tapping or patting motion to apply it to your skin. This helps promote absorption and avoids unnecessary irritation.
    6. Focus on problem areas: If you have areas with enlarged pores or excessive oiliness, you can apply an additional layer of toner to those specific areas. Simply soak a cotton pad with toner and leave it on the problem areas for a few minutes before removing.
    7. Let it absorb: Allow the toner to fully absorb into your skin. This usually takes a minute or two. Avoid rinsing it off unless the product specifically instructs you to do so.

What to look for in Korean BB cream for oily skin

The Korean BB cream is a great choice for those who want a foundation with added benefits. In order to understand how important it is for your skin and complexion while still getting satisfactory results, you must consider the requirements for this. BB creams that look natural are the best to start with.

With a BB cream, your skin will look natural and dewy, never heavy or cakey. BB cream also applies easily with your fingers, allowing it to melt into the skin for fuss-free makeup application.

All skin types can benefit from BB creams, including those with oily, dry, and acne-prone skin.

Make sure to Pick your BB cream depending on your skin type!

On the off chance that you have oily skin consistently pick a BB cream with a matte finish also to remember in avoiding non-sparkling or non-shiny and an oil free combination. Search for a without oil formula with mattifying fixings ingredients that include: silica, colloidal dirt, charcoal.

In the event that you have skin inflammation or acne prone skin, most certainly search for a sans oil equation that helps disguise redness. BB cream frequently contains hydrating properties, so it’s best for dry skin.

On the off chance if you have dry skin, go after a BB cream with a saturating equation to assist with hydrating your composition. Saturating fixings to pay special mind to include: ceramides, hyaluronic corrosive, glycerin, panthenol.

    Important Points to note:

Attempt to utilize items that consolidate a wide range of actual sun blocks. This implies items that utilize zinc oxide at a high rate <20% is normally standard>. These items are for the most part lower in the “compound” office and give remarkable, regular sun insurance for your skin.

Items imbued with hyaluronic corrosive are astonishing on the grounds that they will assist with saturating your skin. When you combine this with your physical block, you may be able to reverse and prevent the aging process.

There are plenty of cell reinforcement rich fixings, like Green Tea Concentrate, Pomegranate Concentrate, and then some. Cancer prevention agents are an awesome way of shielding your skin from free extreme harm, and as a rule inject your skin with much-required supplements.

Continuously pick lightweight, non-oily recipes over thicker, slick items. In the event that you have seriously dry skin, you might have the option to pull off the heavier stuff, yet

What are the benefits of using Korean BB Cream for oily skin?

    • BB creams come with moisturising ingredients, so you can choose BB creams for your type of skin depending on the ingredients
    • They offer sun protection by including an SPF factor. However, depending on the sun exposure, this may or may not be enough

    Top Korean Grill Pan

S·KITCHN Grill Pan with Folding Handle

The S·KITCHN Grill Pan has a simple, but intelligent design, and is one of the most convenient Korean grill pans that I’ve used. The foldable handle makes it easy to move the pan around as well as to store it when I’m done using it. It is made up of bakelite, which is durable, yet light and convenient.

    best korean grill pan

The Korean grill pan has a double layer of non-stick coating. This coating is free of PFOA.

The body of the pan is made of aluminium, which, though light in weight, ensures that heat is distributed throughout the pan evenly. Food is always cooked thoroughly in this pan as aluminium has the tendency of absorbing heat quickly. Food does not get dehydrated, instead, cooks well retaining the moisture and flavours inherent.

The grill pan has grooves on either side to drain out the excess oil. The nonstick coating also makes it feasible to cook the food without having to add lots of oil. Overall, the food cooked in this pan is healthy and without excess grease.

This pan can be used on all types of stoves except in the oven.

    Pros:

    • Convenient and user-friendly design
    • Foldable handle
    • Durable and lightweight
    • Aluminum surface ensures even heat absorption
    • Nonsticky

    Cons:

    • Aluminum might cause health issues
    • Might not be ideal for heavy cooking

TeChef – Stovetop Korean BBQ Non-Stick Grill Pan – Best Korean Grill Pan

Grilling meats brings out the flavour like no other form of cooking. Grilling it in the right pan, at the right temperature, retains the juicy deliciousness inside while giving it a crisp exterior. It truly is an art, and an artist needs the right tools to excel.

    korean bbq grill pan electric

TeChef Stovetop Korean BBQ Non-Stick Grill Pan gives you just that with a 5-times coated Teflon, to help you grill your meat and veggies without them sticking to the bbq grill pan. There’s no harmful PFOA, lead or cadmium in the coating. This is perfect for those who are health conscious and want to cut back on the added oil and fat.

This Korean bbq grill pan has a very unique pattern with swirls. This pattern drains the oil slowly, and as a result, you get tastier food. The other thing about the swirl pattern is that when you cook meat that is loaded with fat, this fat drains away, leaving you with healthier meat.

There is a hole through which the fat runs out, and you can collect it by placing a container under it.

This Korean grill pan can be used on the stove top as well as in the oven. It can be conveniently washed in the dishwasher. It’s also priced very reasonably.

    Pros:

    • Coated with 5 layers of Teflon
    • Nonstick
    • No harmful PFOA and metal coating
    • The swirl pattern reduces the oil and fat content by draining
    • Reasonable price

    Cons:

    • Durability isn’t guaranteed
    • Quite heavy

Eutuxia Master Grill Pan for Korean BBQ

The Eutuxia Master Grill Pan is one of the best pans I’ve come across till date in terms of design and value for money. This is a cast iron pan, one of the most recommended metals for cooking meat and vegetables.

    tomoroo korean bbq grill pan

Cast iron retains the nutrition and flavour of the food in a way that coated pans cannot. This pan is also nonstick, coated with titanium, helping you cut down on the extra oil and fat you might otherwise add to the food.

This Korean cast iron Korean grill pan is very intelligently designed in sections and in different sizes, so you can grill multiple items at the same time. What a wonderful way to save time and energy! The smaller sections are perfect for grilling a few pods of garlic while you can use the longer sections for shredded veggies or kimchi. Eggs and cheese are other foods that turn out great on this grill.

The pan is slightly tilted at an angle to drain the unwanted fat and grease from the cooked food. There’s a tiny hole through which this can be drained.

    Pros:

    • Cast iron pan
    • Titanium coated surface reduces extra oil
    • Nonstick
    • Different grill sections for different sizes of food
    • Excess oil can be drained

    Cons:

    • Not a user-friendly design
    • expensive

    CookKing – Master Grill Pan

One of the best selling Korean grill pans is the Master Grill Pan by CookKing. This is similar in design to the Eutuxia Master Grill Pan but priced slightly higher.

The grill pan by CookKing is made of aluminium and is quite light in weight when compared to most other grill pans in the market.

korean bbq grill pan for induction cooktop

It has a titanium coating which makes the pan non-stick. Though the pan is lightweight, it is not flimsy by any means. It is quite sturdy and cooks the food evenly. Cleaning the pan is super easy and it lasts a long time.

The pan can be used both outdoors as well as indoors, and for tabletop cooking.

The way the pan is sectioned makes it very convenient to grill multiple veggies, meats, herbs, spices, eggs and garnishes at the same time without using up too much energy. The innovative design also ensures that the excess oil and fat is drained away from the food through a small hole.

This also helps certain meat get crisper on the outside while leaving the flesh inside tender and juicy. You can enjoy perfectly cooked food without the grease.

    Pros:

    • Lightweight
    • Nonstick
    • Aluminum and titanium surface ensures food is cooked evenly
    • Different sized grill compartments
    • Innovative design

    Cons:

    • Quite expensive
    • Might cause inconvenience due to several compartments

    Happycall Korean BBQ Grill Pan

For those indoor gettogethers you have, an efficient indoor Korean grill pan can make you the envy of all your friends.

Especially one like the Happycall Korean BBQ Grill Pan. Measuring 14.5 x 13 inches, this pan is large enough to grill enough veggies and meat for four to five people at a time.

cast iron korean bbq grill pan

The rectangular shape also makes it more convenient to accommodate more food than the circular ones. This pan is more expensive than the other Korean grill pans in the market, though.

This pan is rectangle in shape and is coated with a 5 layer Diamond non-stick coating. The pan is embossed for a more effective non-stick ability. Free of harmful PFOA and reducing the amount of oil or grease you add into your food, this pan is perfect for healthy cooking.

The pan is designed to drain the excess grease into a slope and a griddle, so you are only treated to low fat, tender cooked food with a crisp exterior. The pan is also easy to clean.

The bottom portion of the pan has grooves that fits into a gas range.

This ensures that the pan stays put while you’re tossing the meat or veggies.

    Pros:

    • Large in size
    • Less time consuming
    • Convenient rectangular shape
    • Coated with 5 layer Diamond non stick
    • Drains excess oil

    Cons:

    • Expensive
    • Might be too large to fit on some gas stove range

YONATA Korean Nonstick BBQ Grill Pan

YONATA Korean Nonstick BBQ Grill Pan is a square shaped pan with a slight slope to help the oil drain out through the small hole present. Make sure you place a cup below the hole to collect the oil drained to discard it.

    smokeless korean bbq grill

The size of the pan is just right for grilling food for 2 to 3 people at a time. It is priced quite reasonably and is value for money.

The pan is coated with a blend of ceramic and zirconium metals. This gives the pan it’s non-stick ability. This non-stick coating is more durable and safer than other types of non-stick coatings. It is non-toxic and safe for the environment as well.

The pan also stays resistant to scratches that may occur with constant use in other pans. It is also very easy to clean. The base metal is aluminium, giving the pan its sturdiness but keeping it very light in weight.

It distributes the heat evenly, so the food gets cooked very well. Slow grilling the meats gives them a nice crispness with plenty of flavour, but without any of the greasy texture.

This is a grill pan that is very versatile and can be used on any surface. It can be used on gas stove tops, electric stove tops, on the grill, on a hot plate or in an induction oven, with ease.

    Pros:

    • Reasonable price
    • Convenient rectangular shape
    • Ideal to cook for a family
    • Nonstick
    • Nontoxic
    • Lightweight
    • Flexible to use

    Cons:

    • Not ideal for BBQ parties
    • Slow cooking time

UPIT Korean BBQ Egg Grill Pan

Upit Korean BBQ grill pan comes in two types of metals. One is an aluminium one while the other one has a non-stick coating on it. Both pans are priced similarly and are quite reasonable.

    korean bbq grill plate australia

Both pans are round in shape but the aluminium one is sectioned for conveniently grilling different food items and various portion sizes at the same time. While the narrow portions are perfect for cooking eggs and cheese, the centre circular portion cooks meat and veggies evenly.

It is sloped and has a hole for draining the excess fat and grease from the food cooked. The aluminium body heats up quickly, distributes the heat evenly all around and cooks the meat without drying it out.

The nonstick pan, on the other hand, has a five layer marble coating giving it its non-stick ability. This is a whole different design, where the pan is sloped towards the centre. The oil and fat, therefore, flow towards the centre and collect there, cooking the food.

This design is ideal for cooking fried rice, kimchi, mushrooms and meats, while the nonstick coating keeps the food from sticking to the pan or burning. Both pans are portable and can be used on any kind of stove, indoors as well as outdoors.

    Pros:

    • Reasonable price
    • Nonstick
    • Different compartments for different types of food
    • Drains excess oil
    • Can be used on any kind of stove

    Cons:

    • Not user friendly

How to Choose the Best Korean Exfoliator

Choosing the right Korean exfoliator can make a massive difference in how your skin looks and feels. Not every formula works for every skin type, so it’s important to know what to look for before you hit “add to cart.”

    • Know your skin type: Dry or sensitive skin benefits from gentler AHAs or peeling gels, while oily or acne-prone skin responds well to BHAs like salicylic acid.
    • Check the exfoliant type: Physical exfoliators use grains or pads to sweep away dead skin, while chemical exfoliators dissolve them, pick based on how reactive your skin is.
    • Look for hydrating ingredients: Korean exfoliators often include hyaluronic acid, fruit extracts, or soothing botanicals to keep the skin barrier intact.
    • Avoid harsh abrasives: Large gritty particles or harsh scrubs can cause micro-tears and long-term irritation.
    • Start slow: Even the gentlest exfoliator can irritate if overused. Begin 1–2 times weekly and increase only if your skin tolerates it.

Which Korean Exfoliator Is Best for Your Skin Type?

Not all exfoliators behave the same on different skin types. Here’s a quick, simple guide to help you narrow things down:

    • Oily or Acne-Prone Skin: Look for BHAs like salicylic acid or products with volcanic ash (like the Jeju Volcanic Foam). These help unclog pores and reduce excess oil production.
    • Dry Skin: AHAs such as lactic acid or glycolic acid remove dead skin while boosting hydration. Avoid harsh scrubs.
    • Sensitive Skin: PHAs, gentle peeling gels, or enzyme-based exfoliators work best. They exfoliate slowly without disrupting the skin barrier.
    • Combination Skin: Use a balance, chemical exfoliants on congested zones and gentle physical exfoliators on dry patches.
    • Dull or Uneven Skin: Products containing vitamin C, fruit enzymes, or glycolic acid can help brighten and refine texture.

    How Often Should You Exfoliate?

Over-exfoliating is one of the biggest skincare mistakes people make. Korean exfoliators are usually formulated to be gentle, but that doesn’t mean they should be used daily.

    • Normal/Oily Skin: 2–3 times per week.
    • Dry/Sensitive Skin: 1–2 times per week.
    • Acne-Prone Skin: Use BHAs 2–3 times weekly; reduce frequency if irritation occurs.
    • Daily exfoliators: Only use products labeled as daily exfoliants or low-acid toners.

    Benefits of Korean Exfoliators

K-beauty exfoliators are well-loved because they do more than just remove dead skin. Many of them are designed to nourish, soothe, and strengthen the skin barrier with every use.

    • Improve skin texture and smoothness
    • Brighten dull, uneven skin tone
    • Reduce blackheads and whiteheads
    • Help skincare products absorb better
    • Minimize acne breakouts by keeping pores clear
    • Boost hydration and elasticity

Final Thoughts: Which One Should You Try First?

If you’re new to exfoliating or simply want a reliable Korean exfoliator, the DERMALOGY NEOGENLAB Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Pads remains the top recommendation. They offer a perfect balance of physical and chemical exfoliation, they’re easy to use, and they’re suitable for almost every skin type.

However, if you have sensitive skin, the Innisfree Green Barley Gommage is a safer starting point. For oily or acne-prone skin, Mizon’s Honey Black Sugar Scrub or The Face Shop Jeju Volcanic Lava Foam can give you deeper cleansing without being harsh.

Remember, great skin isn’t about doing the most; it’s about doing what works for you consistently. Start slow, listen to your skin, and let the right Korean exfoliator do the rest.

  • Are Korean Sunscreens Safe | Controversy, FDA-Approval and 5 Important Facts!

Are Korean Sunscreens Safe | Controversy, FDA-Approval and 5 Important Facts!

Korean beauty bloggers stress so much on closing up your skincare routine with Korean sunscreen. But are Korean sunscreens safe? Keep reading to find out.

If you closely follow skincare routines you know how important the application of sunscreen is to top it all off. A good sunscreen not only protects you from the sun’s harmful UV rays but also acts as a barrier that prevents reaction with the ingredients in your other skincare steps.

Until some time ago, we could close our eyes and slather our faces with one of the cult-favourite Korean sunscreens without question. Then, the Korean sunscreen controversy happened and it made us question if Korean sunscreens were in fact safe?

    Are Korean Sunscreens Safe?

Korean sunscreens were generally considered safe and effective. South Korea has a well-regulated cosmetic industry, and their sunscreens are subject to rigorous testing and quality control measures. Many Korean sunscreen brands are highly regarded for their innovation and high SPF protection.

However, it’s important to note that sunscreen safety can depend on various factors, including the specific ingredients used in the product and your individual skin type or sensitivities. Some people may have allergies or sensitivities to certain sunscreen ingredients, such as chemical UV filters or fragrances, so it’s crucial to check the ingredient list and do a patch test if you have concerns.

It’s also worth mentioning that regulations and formulations can change over time, so it’s a good idea to stay updated on the latest information regarding sunscreen safety. You can consult with dermatologists or rely on credible sources like the FDA (in the United States) or local regulatory authorities in your country for guidance on sunscreen safety and effectiveness.

Additionally, some Korean sunscreens gained international attention for their claimed SPF levels not matching the actual protection they provided. In 2020, the FDA issued an alert about specific Korean sunscreen products that didn’t meet their labeled SPF levels, highlighting the importance of verifying product claims.

To ensure your safety, consider the following tips when selecting and using sunscreen:

    1. Check the SPF rating and broad-spectrum protection.
    2. Read the ingredient list and look for any known allergens.
    3. Consider your skin type and any specific concerns you have (e.g., sensitivity or acne-prone skin).
    4. Perform a patch test if you have sensitive skin.
    5. Keep an eye on product recalls or alerts issued by regulatory authorities.
    6. Follow proper sunscreen application guidelines, including applying an adequate amount and reapplying as needed.

Lastly, it’s always a good practice to consult with a dermatologist if you have any concerns about sunscreen safety or if you need personalized skincare recommendations. They can provide guidance based on your specific needs and skin type.

What is the Korean sunscreen controversy?

In December 2020, INCIDecoder, a cosmetic entrepreneur decided to run some tests on the Purito Centella Unscented Sun to understand their formulation in order to create a just-as-elegant sunscreen. In a blog post published by the brand, they received the test results that revealed that the sunscreen only had an SPF 19, in contrast to their advertised levels of SPF 50.

Without being defensive, Purito initiated many in-vivo and in-vitro tests for all of its sunscreens despite the formulations having been approved by the KFDA. Not only did they stop the sales of its sunscreens, but they also provided a full refund to the sunscreens’ customers.

This brought many other Korean brands that make sunscreen with similar formulations under scrutinous eyes. Keep Cool and Dear, Klairs also took the brunt of it since they were created in the same lab.

Klairs’ Soft Airy UV Essence seemed to have a different SPF index when tested with country-specific testing methods. Consequently, they stopped the sales of their product overseas.

Keep Cool’s Soothe Bamboo Sun Essence confirmed that their claim of SPF 50 was not accurate and initiated a $25 Keep Cool voucher for all those customers who had bought the product.

    Actions Taken

Naturally, as the rest of the world found out, some corrective measures had to be taken. In Australia, the sale of any Korean sunscreen was completely put a stop to. The country couldn’t take risks because of the prevailing conditions of skin cancer among its’ citizens.

Dear Klairs has stopped the global sales of its sunscreens and the Singaporean government recalled the sales of all 3 Klairs sunscreens from the market.

All of this was a true awakening, a rather emotional one that made people like me, who standby Korean beauty, shocked and angry. But time has passed now, and a lot of new information has come to light revealing the underlying truths of the safety of Korean sunscreens.

It is important that you stay completely informed before you decide to jump to a conclusion and completely write off Korean sunscreens from your everyday essentials kit.

Regardless of the plight of Korean sunscreens, they are still by far very effective. People still prefer Korean sunscreens because of their formulations, elegance and comfort felt on the skin. A fair comparison to Western formulations of sunscreens would bring certain factors to light.

Difference between American and Korean Sunscreen:

    Category American Sunscreens Korean Sunscreens
UV Filters Often use a mix of chemical and physical filters (common chemical filters: avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene; physical filters: zinc oxide, titanium dioxide). Typically use a variety of chemical UV filters and advanced photostable filters such as Tinosorb S, Uvinul A Plus, and Uvinul T 150.
Texture & Finish Often thicker and creamier; physical-filter formulas can leave a white cast. Known for lightweight, watery or gel-like textures that apply easily and give a more cosmetically elegant finish.
Ingredients May include antioxidants, moisturizers, and anti-aging components to suit daily skincare routines. Often incorporate skincare actives like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and plant extracts for added benefits beyond UV protection.
SPF & UVA Info SPF focuses on UVB protection; UVA protection is not always clearly graded on labels. Often display both SPF and PA ratings (PA+, PA++, PA+++, PA++++) to indicate UVA protection more explicitly.
Regulations Regulated in the US as over-the-counter drugs by the FDA with specific testing and labeling requirements. Regulated by the Korean Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) with its own standards; formulations and approvals are updated more frequently.
Packaging & Marketing Tend to emphasize clinical efficacy and dermatologist recommendations. Often feature innovative packaging, playful branding, and trend-forward formulations aimed at younger consumers.
Notes Formulations and trends change over time; check specific product details, reviews, and consider your skin type, sensitivities, and application guidelines when choosing any sunscreen.

What the FDA is doing about Korean Sunscreens

In the Western market, specifically in the US, sunscreens are considered a drugstore product by the FDA. While they do have to undergo testing for whether or not they are effective against UVA and UVB, they do not have to undergo the drug approval process.

The reason behind this is that the sunscreen chemicals that are approved by the FDA have remained the same since 1999. They might as well have become obsolete.

On the other hand, in Korea, The Korean FDA (KFDA) approval process is quicker and renews from time to time, constantly adding newer formulas to make innovative sunscreens.

    Inclusivity and Korean Sunscreens

Innovation is what sets Korean sunscreens apart. Because of rigorously changing formulations, the Korean sunscreens could be inclusive of the prevailing problems brought up by sun blockers such as penetration of large molecules, broad spectrum and photostability.

Not only that, sunscreens tend to leave a white cast, creating problems for women of colour to use them without their skin looking whitish. With newer formulas and lightweight solutions, Korean sunscreens were able to enable a solution to that as well.

Besides, a lot of the western sunscreens tend to feel chalky. Owing to their restrictions, Western companies also find it rather inexpensive to produce pasty formulations that simply feel heavy on one’s skin.

SPF and PA+++ in Korean Sunscreens: Know the importance

I mentioned broad spectrum sunscreens earlier. Broad spectrum sunscreens are used to refer to those formulations that prevent the user from both UVA and UVB rays. A little known fact as it is, the SPF in sunscreen only protects one from UVB rays. That means protection from sunburns and tanning.

The UVA rays, however, affect the skin in more ways. It results in premature ageing, wrinkling of the skin, and by penetrating beneath the epidermis, it causes irreversible damage. Being exposed to UVA rays can be prevented by using sunscreens with a PA rating. Often, you’ll come across “PA+++” that indicates its presence.

In the PA rating, you’ll find 4 grades, ranging between PA+, PA++, PA+++ and PA++++. The higher the number of plus signs, the more protection it offers from UVA rays. The Koreans have gone the extra mile to develop a sophisticated PA rating system that allows them to rate the protection from UVA rays that is not found in many Western sunscreens.

Additionally, there is a PPD system as well to tell how high or low the protection is against UVA rays. The Persistent Pigmentation Darkening system is used to indicate how long it takes for the skin to tan when it is unprotected.

A PPD rating of 20, like that of SPF, would indicate that the skin would take 20 times more than normal speed to tan.

While the western sunscreens do use a PA rating, the Korean sunscreens used a marginally more extensive and sophisticated system to test their sunscreens.

There have been faults when compared to foreign systems, but that is only because the procedures are different. From the ground up, having an SPF and a compatible AA rating is what makes a good sunscreen, and the Koreans seemed to have mastered it.

    Are Korean Sunscreens Safe: FAQs

What is the Korean sunscreen scandal?

The Korean sunscreen scandal took the internet by storm when INCIDecoder discovered that Purito’s sunscreens weren’t as effective in SPF as they claimed.

This brought a spotlight on other Korean sunscreens that consisted of similar formulations. The scandal brought doubts to many Korean beauty worshippers and gave birth to many sceptics who bad-mouthed Korean beauty in general.

The Korean sunscreens are still recovering from the scandal.

What is the most popular sunscreen in Korea?

Thanks to the innovative formulations of Korean sunscreens, there is one for every skin type.

There are sunscreens that help acne-prone skin, ones that hydrate damaged skin and the kind that keep dryness at bay as well. The best overall sunscreen is the COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF50 PA+++. It is quick absorbing, calms irritation and keeps skin hydrated.

One of the other popular sunscreens is the Etude House Soon Jung Mild Defence Sun Cream because of its budget-friendly nature. It’s non-comedogenic and won’t cause breakouts. This one, popular for good reason is my personal favourite.

The Acwell UV Cut SPF 50+ PA++++ Mild Sun Fluid is excellent for sensitive skin. It does more than just protect the skin from the sun. It has helped calm prevailing irritation and redness on my skin.

Is Korean sunscreen better than American?

I stand by everything I wrote. Despite the scandals faced by the Korean sunscreen industry, they by far have managed to create all-inclusive formulations that prevent the skin from not only UVB rays but also UVA. The thing that is not that common in Western sunscreens.

Which Korean sunscreen is good for sensitive skin?

best korean sunscreen The Suntique I’m Pure Cica Suncream, SPF 50, PA++++ is a great option. It keeps everything transparent. In fact, it also mentioned that it does leave a slight white cast, unlike other sunscreen brands.

Are Korean chemical sunscreens reef safe?

There has been a lot of debate in recent years about the safety of chemical sunscreens, specifically those made in Korea. Concerns focus on their potential to disrupt marine life and cause long-term health issues for humans.

Some organizations have called for a ban on these products, while others are recommending that people use them with caution and only when necessary.

The best thing to do is read the ingredients list carefully before using any sunscreen and talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns.

To sum it up, some Korean chemical sunscreens are safe for coral reefs and others aren’t. You’ll have to check the packaging for the answer as most reef-safe products are marked as so.

How do Koreans protect their skin from the sun?

Koreans have mastered the art of skin protection, and they use a variety of methods to achieve this goal.

One popular method is using sunscreens that block both UVA and UVB radiation. They also use lotions, creams, lip balms, eye drops, scrubs, bath bombs/soap bubbles/foam sticks/washcloths with sunscreen in them, and protective clothing such as hats and sunglasses.

Additionally, Koreans avoid direct exposure to sunlight by wearing long-sleeved tops at all times when outdoors, even on cloudy days. All this is very important to Korean people as pale white skin is very prized in their culture.

A final note about sunscreens, Korean or not

For sunscreens to be really effective, it is recommended that you choose one that is at least above SPF 30.

Believe it or not, while SPF 30 provided about 97% sun protection, anything above that, even as much as SPF 50, only provides an additional 1%. Still, the higher the SPF, the more your skin can withstand when put against the sun.

Remember that sunscreens are not additive. Slathering an SPF 30 on top of SPF 20 will not make it SPF 50. Reapplying every two hours, especially if you’re outdoors should keep you protected.

How to choose the best Korean hand cream

Choosing the right hand cream is an important part of ensuring your hands stay healthy, hydrated and looking their best.

To help narrow down the options and make sure you’re investing in a quality cream, here are some tips on how to choose the best Korean hand cream for you.

First, research the brand of the hand cream and read reviews of the product before buying. Reputable Korean skincare brands, such as LANEIGE, Etude House, Mise en Scene and The Saem, have hand creams that come with a combination of hydrating and nourishing ingredients.

It is also important to pay attention to the active ingredients of the cream, such as peptides, hyaluronic acid, and other antioxidants, as they have the ability to provide a comprehensive skin care system.

Second, you should consider selecting a hand cream with natural and non-toxic ingredients. Natural ingredients, such as coconut oil, shea butter, and sunflower seed oil, are known for their powerful moisturizing and nourishing abilities and are as effective as artificial ingredients.

Here’s a shortcut for you to understand what ingredient to look for in a hand cream.

    • For Dry and chapped hands: Choose a hand cream that contains moisturising ingredients like glycerin, shea butter, coconut butter, ceramides or hyaluronic acid
    • For sensitive skin: Choose hand creams that are free of added fragrances and common irritants like essential oils
    • For Mature Skin: Ingredients like retinol and niacinamide help build collagen, making your skin more elastic and supple. These ingredients, along with antioxidants and moisturising ingredients can slow down the ageing of the skin. If the hand cream has added SPF, that’s a nice bonus!

Moreover, some Korean hand creams also contain ingredients derived from green tea, which is rich in antioxidants and helps to protect the skin from environmental damage.

Finally, think about the cream’s consistency. Many people often feel intimidated by rich, thick creams that can leave a film on their hands, so a lightweight and non-greasy formula may be the best option.

A light hand cream can absorb quickly into the skin and prevent it from feeling slick or heavy throughout the day.

Finding the best hand cream for you can be tricky, but if you follow these guidelines and keep in mind your skin type and individual needs you should be able to find a product that offers the perfect solution.

Just the way you choose a suitable cream for your face based on several factors, consider the following to choose the best Korean Hand Cream.

The packaging might seem like something very basic and simple, but believe me, when you’re traveling, you want a mini hand cream that can easily fit into your bag, and not something large and heavy.

Also, pay attention to the kind of cap you feel would be easiest to open, use and close.

The shape of the pack is another aspect many tend to overlook, so make sure you’re comfortable with it before you buy the hand cream.

Korean hand care routine for soft skin

When it comes to taking care of your hands, it’s important to have a routine that suits your skin needs and doesn’t require too much effort.

Korean hand care is renowned for being both nourishing and effective, setting high standards of quality and performance. So, what is the best Korean hand care routine?

Start off by looking for the best Korean hand cream for you. With so many on the market, it’s important to pick one that fits your skin type, as hand creams can differ in terms of ingredients and textures.

A rich, hydrating cream is best suited for dry skin, while a lightweight cream can work well with oily skin.

The next step is to pick a cleanser. Hand cleansers are designed to remove dirt, bacteria, and any other impurities – something that soap and water can’t do on their own.

After washing your hands thoroughly, follow up with a good hand scrub. It helps to slough away dead skin cells, revealing soft and smooth results.

For protection, find a hand cream with SPF. The sun’s UV rays are notorious for causing wrinkles and age spots, so it’s a good idea to invest in a hand cream that offers protection from UVA/UVB rays.

Then, for those with cuticles, a little extra TLC can be added to your routine – pick a formula specifically designed for softening and soothing the nails and cuticles.

Finally, regular use of hand creams will help keep hands feeling soft and smooth. To get the most out of your hand cream, use it both morning and night.

Applying a small amount after washing your hands and before going to bed will lock-in plenty of moisture and give hands that extra nourishment it needs.

This routine is easy to follow and won’t take up too much time. Ultimately, finding the right hand cream and incorporating these steps into your daily regimen will help keep hands looking younger and less dry.

It’s best to experiment with a few formulas until you find one that works with your skin type and gives you the desired results. By following this simple routine, you’ll make sure your hands feel healthy, nourished, and anything but dry.

    Conclusion

Hand care is one of those small habits that pays off in a big way, and with the right Korean hand cream, keeping your skin soft, hydrated, and youthful becomes almost effortless.

Each product in this list has its own strengths, whether you want intense moisture, rich nourishment, a lightweight daily formula, or something with a beautiful scent that makes applying it feel luxurious.

If your hands are constantly exposed to washing, weather changes, typing, or sanitizers, choosing the right cream makes all the difference and these Korean formulas continue to outperform many mainstream options.

Pick the one that fits your skin needs, keep it in your bag or on your desk, and you’ll notice the difference within days.

Your hands deserve the same level of care as your face and now you’ve got the best 2025 options right at your fingertips.
